Documents Required

Before you set off on your Tibet travel, you’d better prepare all documents required for entering Tibet. First, you need to obtain your China Visa which can be easily get from Chinese embassy in your country. However, you’d better not mention Tibet on your application for China Visa, as Chinese embassy would ask you for Tibet Travel Permit which is applied for in Lhasa with China Visa. Therefore, remember not mention anything about Tibet when you are applying China Visa.

Another one is the Tibet Travel Permit, called as Tibet Visa, is necessary for your travel in Tibet and will be checked at the airport or train station for non-Chinese passport holders. Even you enter Tibet, the Tibet Travel Permit is also needed when you enter scenic spots in Tibet and check into a hotel. Individual travel is not allowed in Tibet, so you’d better contact a local travel agency which will help you with the application of Tibet Travel Permit, and you should provide copies of your passport and China Visa.
